Cradle of Alsace wines

Eguisheim

This Medieval city is classified among the Most Beautiful Villages in France, and is located 10 minutes from Colmar. Built around its castle, it is deployed in concentric circles.

Step into the circle and follow a marked trail from the ramparts into the heart of the village. You'll discover fountains, colonnaded courtyards and a church housing a 13th-century ‘Vierge Ouvrante’. Stroll along its cobbled streets, past old houses with pointed roofs, bright colours and half-timbered façades.

Do not miss : the "Pigeonnier" house, certainly the most famous photo spot in Alsace!

Kaysersberg

Go for a walk and look up! You will be seduced by its remarkable historical gems : the Church of the Holy Cross with its superb carved wooden altarpiece, its fortified bridge over the Weiss river, the medieval ramparts and towers.

But also, its richly decorated half-timbered houses from different centuries and the birthplace of Albert Schweitzer, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1952, now the Schweitzer Centre.

Bonus : Gain height by walking to the remains of the castle which dominates the imperial city. At the top of its keep you have a panoramic view to admire the splendors of the city and the vineyards that surround it.

The pearl of Alsace

Riquewihr

Surrounded by a double rampart dating from the 13th century, this medieval city is dominated by the watchtower of La Dolder, its emblem. On either side of the main street, magnificent half-timbered or cut stone houses, some dating from the Middle Ages and others from the Renaissance, speak of their charms.

Bonus : Gain height by surveying the Geo Vino trail which, over several instructive stages on the land, leads to a pretty viewpoint over the village.

Medieval city

Ribeauvillé

In the Middle Ages, this Medieval city was the seat of the Lordship of the Ribeaupierre family (hence the name of the town of Ribeauvillé). Of its medieval fortifications, the town still retains part of its rampart wall and some of its defensive towers, including the "Butchers' Tower" (13th century, rebuilt in the 18th century).

The Grand'rue and its picturesque districts, lined with abundantly flowered buildings are punctuated by squares decorated with Renaissance-style fountains.

Bonus : the climb of the 3 castles where a breathtaking view awaits you.

The romantic

Colmar

This is certainly one of the most charming cities in Alsace, which invites you to taste its art of living. Between cobbled streets, flower-filled windows, romantic canals, let yourself be charmed by this rich heritage that surrounds you.

The Pfister house, the Maison des Têtes, the Dominican Church, the Saint-Martin collegiate church, the fish market quay and Little Venice are the must-sees of your visit.

Bonus : go to the district of Little Venice and take a ride in a flat-bottomed boat.
