Culture and discoveries

Museums in Alsace Rhin Brisach

There are two museums to discover in Neuf-Brisach.

The Vauban Museumis the city's historical museum. Its two main exhibits are a mapping-type video projection of a model of the town and its fortifications, and a bust of Vauban showing a film explaining the town's construction. Not to be confused with the MAUSA Museum, a museum of urban art and street art. The theme is quite different here, with international artists who have painted their works on the interior walls of a former casemate.

The Gallo-Roman Museum of Biesheim offers a panorama of Gallo-Roman civilization and the military presence in the surrounding area. In Fessenheim, the Victor Schoelcher Museum, allows you to discover the life of this extraordinary man, known for his fight for the abolition of slavery.

On the other side of the Rhine

Breisach am Rhein

Also called “Old Brisach”, this city is one of the oldest in Germany, located on the banks of the Rhine. Vauban improved the city and its fortifications in 1664 before the Kingdom of France lost it in 1697.

With its strong past and history, it invites you to come stroll through the picturesque streets of its city center and take a break in one of the many cafés and ice cream parlors around its market square or along the Rhine.
